Frequently asked questions.
What happens if part of my tattoo is exposed from my bandage?
If just the edges of your bandage are rolling up you’re totally fine to leave it on. But if any part of your tattoo is exposed. (Even just the smallest section) remove the bandage, and follow the traditional healing instructions listed in my aftercare instructions. https://dustytats.com/aftercare
Is it safe to swim with my bandage on?
No it is not safe to submerge your tattoo even if fully bandaged. Yes the tattoo is more protected. But you don’t want to risk any water getting underneath the bandage and causing an infection. For further information check out my aftercare instructions! https://dustytats.com/aftercare
Can I see my design beforehand?
There are very few circumstances in which I would get a design ready beforehand. I will have the design ready for you at the time of your appointment. I always set aside some time at the beginning of the appointment for any last minute changes that may need to be made to the design.
What is your preferred method of payment?
My preferred method of payment, and tip, is cash. I also accept cards, or Apple Pay (Apple Pay can sometimes be finicky so its best to bring a card). I do not typically accept payments from Venmo, Cash app, or Paypal.
How far in advance are you booking?
I usually book out two months in advance. I keep the month that I am booking along with other booking info updated on my instagram @dusty.tats
Can I bring a friend?
Yes! You can absolutely bring someone along with you! We just ask that you keep it to one person, as there is minimal space for extra guests in the shop.
Do you do piercings?
No, the shop does not have a piercer at time.
What is your hourly rate, and do you have a minimum?
I quote each piece individually. The price of your tattoo depends on the location, style, size, and the time it takes to tattoo. My minimum is $150, pricing may vary depending on design.
How long will it take for my tattoo to heal?
Tattoos typically take about 2 weeks to heal. If after that 2 week period you still have some flaking scabs just give your skin a couple extra days to be safe! For further information check out my aftercare instructions! https://dustytats.com/aftercare
What should I do to prep for my appointment?
Leading up to your appointment it is super important to keep hydrated! Keeping your skin moisturized will also get your skin nice and ready for the tattoo! Exfoliating the area where you are getting tattooed a few days before your appointment is something you can do but not necessary!
Get plenty of sleep the night before your appointment, and make sure you eat a good meal before you come in! Wearing loose comfortable clothing will not only make it easier for me to access the area in which you are getting tattooed, but will also make you more comfortable during your appointment. Bringing headphones, a book, a stress ball/fidget toys, a blanket, some snacks, and a bottle of water can also help your experience be more enjoyable!
Should I shave before my appointment?
Definitely not necessary, it is very common practice for your artist to shave the area at the time of your appointment! I would recommend to wait for me to shave the area if you are more prone to ingrown hairs, or razor bumps.
Is it safe for me to workout with a fresh tattoo, or with my bandage on?
Technically yes, it is safe. I would recommend that you wait a couple of days for the surface of your tattoo to heal up. I would also try and avoid having your tattoo come in contact with any gym equipment. If you have a Secondskin bandage, I would recommend that you wait a couple days until the bandage is off to avoid sweat collecting underneath the bandage. For further information check out my aftercare instructions! https://dustytats.com/aftercare
Do you take walk-in appointments?
I typically do not have time for walk-ins. When I do have availability for walk-ins either due to cancelations or time in-between appointments, I will post about the times I have available on my instagram story @dusty.tats
Do you tattoo minors with consent from a guardian?
It is shop policy is that we do not tattoo anyone under the age of 18 even with a guardian present.
